Badge group editor
Create a track or change one — its name, artwork and the ordered badges in it — or add your own badges to a ROK catalog track.
The group editor sets up one track: its details, its artwork, and the badges in it in the order a member works through them. Open it from Recognition → Groups — New group, a group's name or Edit, or Add our badges on a ROK catalog group.
Both the new-group and edit screens need Manage badges; without it you are sent back to the groups list, and the database refuses group changes from anyone who lacks it. The top bar has Groups, which returns to the list without saving, and Create group (or Save group on an existing group).
Your groups and ROK catalog groups
On a group your agency owns, everything on the page is editable.
A ROK catalog group opens with a note explaining that its name, artwork and the badges ROK put in it belong to the catalog. The details are disabled and there is no artwork button. What you can do is add your own badges to the track and order them, and that is all saving writes. Your additions are your agency's alone — other agencies using the same catalog track never see them.
Details
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | Up to 80 characters. |
| Slug | Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, unique among your agency's groups. On a new group it follows the name until you edit it. |
| Description (optional) | Up to 500 characters — what holding the whole set says about a member. |
| Order | Lower numbers show first: on the Groups page, and among your agency's tracks on members' badge walls. |
| Status | Active or Inactive. An inactive track is hidden from members' badge walls and from completion counts, but capstone steps and level requirements that name it still work. |
Artwork
Design artwork (or Change artwork) opens the same designer badges use — shape, colour, icon, ribbon and animation, with a live preview; see the badge designer. Done closes it. A group's artwork is drawn live wherever the track appears, and it is never awarded — the badges inside it are.
Badges in this track
The heading counts every badge listed in this section.
- Inherited badges. On a catalog group, a shaded box lists the badges ROK put in the track, each marked Inherited: "part of the track for every agency that has the badge switched on". They cannot be removed or reordered here, and a catalog badge your agency has not switched on is not listed.
- Your badges. Numbered in track order. A catalog badge you added yourself carries a Catalog chip. Use the up and down arrows to reorder and the bin to remove; you can only reorder your own additions.
- Add a badge. Choose from your agency's badges and the catalog badges you have switched on (marked "(catalog)"). A badge can appear in a group only once.
With nothing added yet the section reads "No badges added yet. Order matters: it is the order an operator works through the track."
An inactive badge, or a catalog badge you later switch off, stays in your list but does not count as part of the track until it can be awarded again.
A badge whose step is to complete this group — its capstone — cannot also sit inside it. The database refuses the save with "That badge is awarded for completing this group, so it cannot also be inside it."
Saving
Create group or Save group shows Group created. or Group saved. and returns to the groups list. Problems are listed in a red box at the top — a missing name or slug, a slug another of your groups already uses, a badge listed twice, or a capstone placed inside its own group.
Changing a track takes nothing away and re-checks nobody on the spot:
- Capstone badges already awarded stay awarded, even if you add a badge the holder does not have.
- A capstone set to All of it follows the track as it now stands, so adding a badge raises the bar for everyone who has not yet earned it.
- A level that requires the group is worked out again the next time a member's points or badges change, or when someone saves the level ladder.
If a group cannot be loaded the page says so in red — That group no longer exists. when it has been deleted.
