Signed in without an agency

What the "not in an agency yet" screen means and the ways out of it — redeem an access code (typed, from a join link or a poster's QR code), start a new agency, or ask ROK to connect you.

ROK is organised by agency: every guide, member and setting belongs to one. An account that belongs to no agency has nothing to show, so instead of an empty console you see this screen. You will land here if you signed up on the website and have not yet joined or started an agency, or if the agency you belonged to has been suspended or has removed you.

Three options are offered. Pick the one that matches your situation.

If an agency has invited your address, a box above the options says so — for example "Mountain Rescue invited you to join them". Open it to accept or decline; accepting takes you straight into that agency. An agency cannot add an existing account without its owner's say-so, which is why you are asked.

I have an access code

Your agency's training officer or administrator hands these out — ten letters and digits, shown as two groups of five like ABCDE-FGHJK. You can type it with or without the hyphen, in any case. Enter it and select Join agency. The code connects your account to that agency with the groups its creator chose, and you continue to the console.

If you followed your agency's join link here, the code is already in the box.

If the code is refused, the message says why:

  • "That code is not valid. Check it with your agency and try again." It is mistyped, or it has expired, been revoked or reached its use limit — ROK doesn't say which. Ask for a current code.
  • No seats left. The agency has used all of its member seats on its plan. Nothing is wrong with your code, and it isn't used up. The agency's administrators are told someone was turned away; once they free a seat or upgrade, enter the same code again.
  • "Too many attempts. Please wait a few minutes and try again." After 10 refused codes in 15 minutes you have to wait before trying again.
  • "You already belong to" the agency. Select Continue to and the agency's name to go straight into it.

The first time you join anything you are also asked to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Agencies can share a code as a join link (www.rokrescue.com/join?code=ABCDE-FGHJK) or as a QR code, often on a printed poster. Scanning the QR code with your phone camera opens the same link. On the join page:

  • Signed out — the page names the code and offers Create an account or Sign in. Either way you come straight back to the join page with the code still filled in, including after you confirm your email address or sign in with Google.
  • Signed in — the code is filled in and Join agency is ready to select. Nothing happens until you select it.

The same messages as above apply if the code is refused.

Start an agency

If you are the person setting ROK up for your team, you do not need anyone's permission. Start an agency takes you to www.rokrescue.com/start, where you name the agency and it is created on the spot with you as its first administrator, on the Free plan. The console then opens with a starter access code already waiting under People & access → Access codes, so you can bring your first operators in immediately.

Each account can start one agency. If you need a second space, or an enterprise arrangement, contact ROK instead.

Request access

Not sure who runs ROK at your service, or whether it is set up at all? Request access sends a note to the ROK team. A real person replies, usually within one working day, and either connects you with your agency's administrator or helps you get started.
