Account settings

Your own profile, password, two-factor authentication, phones, badges, push and email notifications, activity and appearance — plus how to download your data or delete your account.

Account settings are yours, not your agency's. Open them from your avatar in the top-right corner → Account settings. Agency-wide settings live under Settings and need permissions; nothing on this page does.

The page is split into tabs. The tab you are on is kept in the address bar, so you can bookmark or share a link straight to one.

Profile

Your display name, credentials (for example "Rope Rescue Technician"), organisation, phone, emergency contact, time zone and photo.

Display name, credentials and organisation appear as the author attribution on content you create. A change here updates every byline in the console the next time it loads. The mobile app keeps the snapshot that was stamped when the item was written, because it works offline.

The Email card changes your sign-in address. ROK emails the new address a confirmation link; nothing changes until you open it.

Badges

Your badge wall: points and streak, the level ladder (what the next rung still needs, and why a lapse demoted you), the tracks you are on, and every badge you hold.

If your agency has switched its leaderboard on, a Leaderboard card ranks members by points — all time, the last 30 days or the last 7 days, and in "By group" mode one of your groups at a time. Your row is marked You. If your agency hides names, you see only your own. Hide me takes you off every board; nobody can override it.

A badge can be shared as a verifiable credential. Switch sharing on from the badge itself; it produces a public link and a verification URL you can add to LinkedIn. Only you can switch sharing on for your own badges. Switching it off takes the link down — it then answers "not found". If a shared badge is later revoked or lapses, its link stays up and says so, so anyone checking it can tell. See how shared badges and credentials work. Badges appear only if your agency has turned recognition on.

Notifications

Two separate settings, both for the agency you are signed in to. If you belong to several agencies, each keeps its own; switch agency to change another's. Until you belong to an agency the tab has nothing to set and says so.

Mobile app push notifications

Whether the ROK mobile app on your phone notifies you when new content is published, and for which top-level guides: All guides, or untick it and choose. Save push preferences stores them. Your phone's own notification settings override these. More in how push notifications reach operators.

Email

Email copies of the notifications in the console bell. They go to the address you sign in with (shown on the card); change it under Profile → Email.

  • Email me about console notifications is the master switch. Untick it and nothing from this agency is emailed; your choices below are kept for when you switch it back on.
  • Email me when lists each kind of notification with what it means. Tick the ones you want.
  • Until you change a box you get the defaults — the notifications that ask you to do something: Review assigned to you, Changes requested, You were mentioned, Submitted for review, Field report raised, ROK Library corrections, Someone could not join, Sponsored plan ending soon and Sponsored plan ended. Comments and replies, Review overdue and Badge nominations are off by default. If ROK later changes the defaults, you follow them until you make a choice of your own.
  • Reset to defaults appears once your choice differs from the defaults.
  • Save email preferences stores the card. Push and email are saved separately; saving one never changes the other.

How the emails behave:

  • Several notifications arriving together come as one email — about a minute after the first, so a burst of review assignments is one message, not twenty.
  • Anything you read in the console before its email goes out is left out of the email. Opening the bell does not count as reading; opening or marking a notification does.
  • The email lists each notification with a link to where it leads in the console, and a link back to these preferences.
  • Changing your preferences affects notifications from then on. One already waiting to be emailed is still sent unless you read it first.

Security

  • Change password. Passwords need at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol. The page shows the date of your last change.

  • Two-factor authentication. Add an authenticator app. Once a code is verified, every sign-in to the console asks for one. Keep a second device enrolled or you will need an administrator to reset it for you.

  • Sessions. Sign out of every device at once, including the mobile app.

  • Your devices. Every phone you have signed in to the ROK app on: its model, operating system, app version, when it was first and last seen, when it last synced, whether notifications are on, and which agencies' content it holds. If a phone is lost or stolen, select Sign out & wipe on it. You are signed out of the app on that phone straight away (your other devices and the console are not), and the next time it checks in with ROK — when the app is opened or brought to the foreground — it deletes everything ROK stored on it: every agency's content and files, your saved progress, and anything recorded there but not yet uploaded. A phone that is switched off or has no signal wipes when it next connects; until then what is on it can still be read. The phone shows Wipe pending, then "Wiped". You can sign in on it again afterwards and your content downloads afresh. Your agency's administrators see the same phones on your member page and can sign one out and wipe your agency's content from it.

  • Download your data. Produces a JSON file containing every record ROK holds against your account: profile, agency memberships and groups, reading and search history, favourites, checklist progress, completions, acknowledgments, quiz attempts, points and badges, notifications, and the audit-log entries where you were the actor or the subject. The download is itself recorded in your activity.

  • Delete account. Permanently removes your account from ROK and from every agency you belong to. Read what is kept before you proceed:

    • Erased: profile, preferences, device registrations, favourites, reading history, search history, notification settings.
    • Kept by the agency as compliance records, no longer linked to a live account: acknowledgments, quiz attempts, approvals you recorded, and points history.
    • Comments, revisions and approvals keep the display name you had at the time, so document-control history stays readable.
    • Any badge you were sharing publicly is revoked.

You will be asked to type your email address, and if you signed in more than five minutes ago, to confirm your password (or sign in again with Google). Deletion is refused if you are the only administrator of an agency: promote another member to the Admin group first, or if you are the only member, contact ROK to close the agency. Platform administrators must have that role revoked by another platform administrator before they can delete themselves.

Activity

Whether your email is verified, your last sign-in, and the access-related audit entries about you: group changes, invitations, status changes, data exports and the like. Agency access managers see the same entries in their audit log.

Appearance

Light, dark, or follow the system. This is per browser.

Terms and privacy

The first time you use the console, and again whenever ROK's Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change, you are asked to accept the current version before continuing. The date you accepted is recorded on your account. The documents themselves are at www.rokrescue.com/legal, also linked from the avatar menu under Privacy & terms.
