Feature settings

Switch optional console modules — review comments, the operator push card, content analytics and live updates — on or off for your whole agency.

Settings → Features turns optional parts of the console on or off for everyone in your agency. Open it from Organization → Settings, then the Features card.

These switches decide what the console shows. They are not permissions and they are not a security control: turning a module off hides its screens and buttons, while the data behind it stays governed by each person's permissions and by the database — as the note on the page itself says, "Gating is applied in the apps; data access stays governed by permissions and RLS."

None of these switches changes the operator app.

Optional modules

Every module is on for a new agency, and stays on until someone with Manage settings saves this page with it unticked.

ModuleDefaultWhat turning it off does
Review commentsOnRemoves the comments panel from the bottom of every item's edit page, and the editor toolbar's option to comment on a selected passage. Comments already written are kept and reappear when the module is switched back on.
Operator push notificationsOnHides the Notify operators card that publishers see on published content, so nobody can send a push about an item from the console.
Content analyticsOnHides the Analytics button on an item's edit page. Opening an item's analytics page directly shows "Content analytics is turned off for this agency (Settings → Features)." The dashboard's own widgets are not affected.
Live updatesOnQueues, comments and the dashboard's queue widgets stop refreshing by themselves, the notification bell stops updating instantly, and the editor no longer warns you when someone else has the same item open. See below for what replaces it.

Operator push notifications and scheduled publishing

Publishing an item by hand never sends a push on its own — the Notify operators card is the only way to send one from the console. A scheduled publish is different: when its time arrives, ROK notifies operators automatically, and this switch does not stop that. With the module off, the only pushes your operators receive are the ones scheduled publishes send.

Live updates

With Live updates on, the review queue, the scheduled queue, field reports, comment threads and the queue widgets on the dashboard change the moment someone else acts, and the editor shows who else has the item open.

With it off:

  • Those lists show what was true when the page loaded. Reload, or leave the page and come back, to see changes made since.
  • The notification bell checks for new notifications every two minutes, and whenever you open it, instead of instantly. The Notifications page shows what was true when it loaded. Email copies of notifications are not affected.
  • Two people can open the same item without either being warned. The editor still never overwrites a newer version: the second person's save is refused, and the editor tells them the item was changed in another session and offers Load latest.

Turn it off only if live updates cause trouble on your network.

Save

Select Save. "Saved." appears beside the button once the change is stored.

The change applies to everyone in the agency. Your own console reflects it on the next page you open; other people pick it up the next time a page loads in their browser. If the save is refused — for example, because you no longer hold Manage settings — the database's message appears beside the button instead and nothing changes.

The page appears only for people who hold Manage settings; the database refuses changes to these switches from anyone else.
