Branding
Set your agency's display name, wordmark, logo, colours, fonts and corner style for the console and the operator app, with a live preview before you save.
Settings → Branding makes ROK look like your agency. Open it from Organization → Settings, then the Branding card. The form is on the left and a live Preview on the right; nothing changes for anyone until you select Save branding.
Branding is agency-wide. When you save, the console re-themes for everyone in the agency and the operator app follows at its next sync. An agency with no saved branding shows the stock ROK look.
Who can change it
The page, and every control on it, is for people who hold Manage branding. It is a separate permission from Manage settings, so you can let a communications officer look after the brand without giving them the rest of Settings. New agencies give it to the Admin group.
The database refuses changes to your branding, and uploads to your agency's logo storage, from anyone without Manage branding. Every member can read the branding — that is how their console and app are themed.
Identity
| Field | Limit | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| Display name | 40 characters | Your agency's full name, beside the logo at the top of the console sidebar and on printed binders. Replaces "Rescue Operator Knowledge" |
| Wordmark | 20 characters | A short mark used where space is tight — at the top of the console sidebar when there is no logo. Replaces "ROK" |
| Tagline | 120 characters | A short line shown under the wordmark on the operator app's sign-in screen, on a device that has synced before |
Logo
Select Upload logo (or Replace logo once you have one) and choose an image. PNG, JPEG, WebP, HEIC and SVG files are accepted; anything else is refused with an error. Photo-style logos are reduced to 1024 pixels and saved as PNG (if transparent) or JPEG; an SVG uploads unchanged, up to 5 MB. The logo appears on the page straight away, but it reaches everyone else only when you save.
Remove takes the logo off; once you save, the wordmark text is shown in its place ("No logo — the wordmark text is shown instead."). When you save a replaced or removed logo, the old file is deleted.
Printed binders put the logo on the cover. The downloaded binder PDF can use only PNG or JPEG logos; with any other format its cover goes without a logo.
Colours
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Presets | Six ready-made pairs: Blaze Orange, High-Vis Amber, Field Green, Water Teal, Sky Blue, Night Indigo. The active one is outlined |
| Primary | Your main brand colour — primary buttons, highlights and focus rings. Its hex code is shown beside the picker |
| Accent (optional) | A second colour, used in console charts and, in the app, to mark favourites. While unset it reads "auto" and is worked out from your primary; Auto returns it to that |
Warnings appear under the pickers when a colour needs attention. They never stop you saving:
- Low contrast. A colour below 3:1 contrast against ROK's dark or light background is lightened or darkened automatically in that theme, and the warning says which.
- Close to Signal Red. A strong colour near Signal Red's hue is flagged, because Signal Red means "critical" in ROK. Pick a distinct hue so an operator never mistakes your brand for an alarm.
How the themes are worked out
You choose one colour set; ROK derives both a dark and a light theme from it, the same way in the console and in the app, so the two can never drift apart:
- Backgrounds, surfaces, borders and muted text keep ROK's light and dark values but are tinted slightly towards your primary's hue.
- Your primary is used as given unless it cannot reach 3:1 contrast against the background, in which case it is lightened (dark theme) or darkened (light theme) until it does.
- Text on primary-coloured buttons is near-black or near-white, whichever reads better.
- An automatic accent is your primary with its hue turned a little round the colour wheel.
Typography & shape
| Control | Options |
|---|---|
| Fonts | ROK (Saira Condensed + Inter), Inter (single family), Archivo (Narrow + Archivo), Source Sans (single family) |
| Corners | Sharp (4px), Standard (8px), Rounded (12px), Pill (16px) — the roundness of buttons, cards and inputs |
The fonts are bundled with the operator app, so a change of font works offline.
Preview
The Preview card shows your unsaved changes on a sample sidebar strip, a sample content card (using your tagline), status badges and three buttons. Switch between Dark and Light to check both themes. The preview never changes the real console — that happens only when you save.
Save or reset
Select Save branding. "Saved — applied for everyone." confirms it, and your own console re-themes at once.
- Other console users see the new branding the next time a page loads for them.
- Operators get it at their app's next sync. The app keeps the branding and a copy of the logo on the device, so it stays branded offline. See How offline sync works.
- The dashboard's getting-started item Brand the console and app is ticked from the first save.
Reset to ROK defaults asks you to confirm: "This tenant's colors, fonts, wordmark and uploaded logo are deleted and everyone falls back to the stock ROK theme. This can't be undone." Select Reset branding to go ahead. The getting-started item un-ticks, and the app returns to ROK's look at its next sync.
Where your branding appears
| Surface | What changes |
|---|---|
| Console | Colours, fonts and corners for everyone in the agency, in both light and dark mode; the logo or wordmark and display name at the top of the sidebar |
| Operator app | The app's dark theme (it has no light mode), fonts, corners and logo |
| Print binders | Your logo on the cover and your display name on the cover line — see Print binder |
| Badge designer | Your primary and accent are offered first among the fill colours |
Signal Red is never yours to change
Signal Red is reserved for critical states — safety warnings, destructive actions, alarms. It is not part of your colour set, it is not derived from it, and no setting changes it. The Critical button in the preview shows it unchanged next to your colours, with the note "Critical stays Signal Red for every tenant — it is reserved for emergencies." The presets deliberately avoid red for the same reason.
